Mission

Our mission is to give neglected and abused farmed animals a safe future, free from harm. Our primary focus is to rescue, rehabilitate, and give permanent sanctuary to the underdogs: roosters and animals with special needs. We believe in ending all animal abuse and exploitation and follow a way of life guided by vegan principles.

Description

Rooster Haus Rescue was founded in 2016 after a cockfighting ring was busted by police and roughly 600 roosters were seized. All but 20 of them were killed. One of these frightened, abused, and mutilated roosters ended up with our founder. She quickly learned how sensitive and sweet these boys can be, despite being tortured for years and having every reason to fear humans. And so began Rooster Haus Rescue…

We're located near Fall City, WA and provide sanctuary to roughly 100 residents including roosters, hens, ducks, turkeys, peafowl, pigeons, a pheasant, fishes, dogs, and a cat.

This year's GiveBIG fundraiser is all about optimizing our turkey residents' home. 

Cause: Join us in improving the sanctuary for our beloved turkeys! At Rooster Haus Rescue, we're passionate about creating safe and loving environments for animals in need. Now, we're embarking on a journey to build, expand, and improve the home for our turkey residents, and we need your support to make it a reality.

Purpose: Turkeys are social creatures who deserve to live happy and fulfilling lives. Unfortunately, many turkeys face neglect, abuse, and the threat of slaughter. Our own turkey residents each came from the horrors of backyard farming. We're committed to changing that narrative by providing a safe place where our residents, Lucy, Slater, November, and Noelle, can thrive, free from harm. These gentle beings enjoy socializing, exploring, and dust-bathing, and will appreciate your help getting a good amount of space to take part in these activities. 

Goal: Our goal is to build a predator-proofed spacious and enriching habitat where our turkey residents can roam, socialize with one another, and engage in their natural behaviors. This includes adding a new coop large enough to accommodate all of the turkeys. Currently they sleep separately in three smaller coops. The new coop will reside within a large predator-proofed outdoor area, with ample space for foraging and exploration, and protective measures against the ongoing threat of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
