Mission

We offer the comforts of home and support services to families of seriously ill children near the medical care they need.

Description

When a child is facing a serious medical crisis, families’ lives are turned upside down. Many families travel hundreds of miles and spend weeks or months getting treatment because nothing is more important than their child’s health. We provide housing in Seattle and Anchorage to support families being treated at Seattle Children’s Hospital or at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC).

“Staying at RMHC, there are just five less things to worry about. It gives us more time to support my son and his stage 4 cancer diagnosis as best we can without a million other things taking away energy, like chasing down housing and worrying about other bills piling up,” said Donald Martin, Colter’s dad.

With our facilities in Anchorage and Seattle, we can accommodate up to 139 families. In addition to providing housing at no cost, our facilities offer stocked common pantries, laundry machines, linens and towels, toiletries, diapers, and all the other items that make a House a home. At both houses, we also offer meals through our volunteer dinner groups, activities and outings for kids, visits from certified therapy dogs, and many other services. The House is so much more than a place to stay; it is a community.
