Hello, friends of Rainbow City Performing Arts!

We are excited to announce that we are participating in GiveBIG, Washington's largest online giving event! This is a great opportunity to show your support for our organization and help us continue our mission of creating a diverse and inclusive environment for musical expression that promotes the equity and visibility of LGBTQIA+ people. Your friends and neighbors find support and comfort from RCPA and we want to increase our impact on your community!

Rainbow City Performing Arts was founded in 1998 to provide a safe, accepting place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender musicians to participate in Seattle's rich community music scene while expressing themselves openly and honestly. Since then, we have grown into a vibrant organization with seven performing ensembles: Rainbow City Concert Band, Rainbow City Orchestra, Rainbow City Marching Band, Purple Passion Swing Band, spinOUT Color Guard, Reign City Riot, and our newest ensemble Rainbow City Drumline.

Picture includes items on display for the auctionr ensembles perform at various events throughout the year, such as Pride parades and festivals, community fundraisers, sporting events, concerts, galas, and more. We also host our own annual events like the Rainbow Ball Gala and Auction, which celebrates our achievements and honors our supporters. Through our music and performance artistry we aim to entertain audiences while also raising awareness about LGBTQIA+ issues.

We have expanded our support of those in our community in need by incorporating a community partner for each concert, where we routinely raise over $1,000 for a local nonprofit to provide them direct support. These have included unhoused service organizations, youth support services, charitable funds and emerging LGBTQIA+ performance organizations.

We have big plans to grow a stronger organization with more community impact but cannot do it without you! Your generous donations help cover the costs of renting rehearsal space, producing high-quality shows, purchasing music scores, maintaining instruments, hiring guest artists, providing scholarships, supporting and uplifting women, non-binary, trans, and BIPOC composers and artists, supporting other local nonprofits, and reaching new audiences.

This year we have set an ambitious goal of raising $15,000 during GiveBIG. This will help us grow and professionalize our operations to provide more visibility to our members and an opportunity for giving back to our communities. We have some exciting plans for the future such as: Launch a concert band and orchestra season at a premiere venue in Seattle that will allow us to reach a broader audience and launch season tickets to all our concerts.  Attract and retain a diverse pool of talented artists to lead our ensembles Purchase and maintain more instruments to aid in the recruitment and retention of members who traditionally cannot afford a musical instrument.

We need your help to make these dreams come true. Please consider making a donation today! Every dollar counts. You can also spread the word by sharing this blog post with your friends on social media using #GiveBIG #RainbowCityPerformingArts.

Thank you for being part of our Rainbow City Performing Arts family! We appreciate your support more than words can say. Together we can make music. Make friends. Make a difference.
