Mission
The mission of the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum is to present exhibitions and educational programs in all fiber arts that enrich and inspire, honor cultural traditions, and celebrate the creative spirit.
Description
The Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum was founded in 1997 to present exhibitions and educational programs in all fiber arts. Since then, we have presented over 270 exhibits, representing 1,300 artists from around the world, many who have also taught workshops and classes in our community. Exhibits have included artists from across the US as well as Tahiti, Korea, Germany, Canada, Pakistan, Japan, India, United Kingdom, and Brazil. Our Permanent Collection holds quilts, historical North American coverlets, historic garments and modern needle and fiber arts, as well as wearable art pieces that exemplify tradition or reflect exceptional or unique artistic trends, designs, or techniques.
Located in the historic Gaches Mansion on the land of Swinomish Indian Tribal Community in La Conner, Washington, we operate with a very small staff of four part-time employees and the dedication of many volunteers, supporting daily operational needs, committees, educational programs, and events. The Museum serves 8,000-10,000 visitors and community members annually. Your support will allow us to increase our ability to inspire, teach, and preserve fiber art traditions, culture, and innovation for future generations.
We’re excited to participate in this year’s Big Give with a goal of raising $20,000 to support important updates to the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum. These improvements will help us better care for the collection, enhance the visitor experience, and ensure that contemporary and historic fiber art can be shared with our community for years to come.
Your gift—of any size—directly strengthens the Museum’s ability to present exhibitions, steward our collection, and provide meaningful programs for artists, students, and visitors. If the Museum has inspired you, taught you something new, or connected you to the power of fiber art, we hope you’ll consider making a gift during the Big Give.
Together, we can ensure the Museum continues to thrive.
