Pride Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Pride Foundation is the only LGBTQ+ community foundation serving the Northwest region of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

Since our founding in 1985, our supporters have worked alongside us to help Pride Foundation invest more than $96 million through our grants and scholarships programs, and advocacy work to support critical organizations and extraordinary student leaders - addressing existing and emerging community needs in urban, rural, and remote communities throughout the Northwest.

Today, during these challenging times, we’re reflecting on the strength of our community and what becomes possible when people across the Northwest come together in solidarity.

Pride Foundation is here. And we will not back down. We’re meeting this moment with unrelenting action and courageous hearts to write the next chapter of our collective story — one defined not by fear, but by fortitude, care, and love without conditions.

MISSION

Pride Foundation fuels transformational movements to advance equity and justice for LGBTQ+ people in all communities across the Northwest.

VISION

We envision a world in which all LGBTQ+ people live safely and openly as our whole selves in the communities we call home.

COMMUNITY GRANTS

Pride Foundation invests in remarkable community organizations that are actively addressing the needs of and expanding opportunities for LGBTQ+ people and our families across the Northwest. In our 2024-2026 Community Grants cycle, we awarded $2.7 million in grants to 106 organizations over those three years in Washington and across our region!

FORTITUDE FUND

In 2025, we launched the Fortitude Fund, awarding $1.75 million to 126 organizations in our 5-state region responding to today’s most urgent needs emerging from the current socio-political landscape.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Pride Foundation's scholarships program annually awards thousands of dollars in academic scholarships to LGBTQ+ students. Since 1993, we've awarded over $10 million to more than 2,600 scholars. In 2025, we awarded $971,000 in scholarships to 112 students across our Northwest region - our largest amount to date!

COMMUNITY ADVOCACY, RESEARCH, EDUCATION (CARE)

While Pride Foundation's grants and scholarships support the brilliant and dedicated organizations and leaders working to meet the needs of our communities, our Community Advocacy, Research, and Education (CARE) program takes a broader focus to shift culture in communities across the Northwest to make this vision a reality. Our goal through this work is to create a Northwest region that is inhospitable to homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny and all other forms of harm directed at LGBTQ+ communities.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Pride Foundation's work is motivated by the fundamental belief that the humanity of every single person deserves to be recognized, protected, and valued. Our commitment to equity is at the core of this belief. For us, equity is about creating a place where we all belong, where we all can be ourselves, and where we all have opportunities to thrive.

Our work is grounded in social justice philanthropy. We are committed to:

  • Harnessing our fundraising, grantmaking, program, and advocacy efforts to address root causes of discrimination impacting the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Supporting community leaders and organizations that work to eliminate barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources for LGBTQ+ people.
  • Expanding and deepening the level of engagement among all LGBTQ+ people and allies, including people who are economically, racially, socially, geographically, or politically disenfranchised.
