Mission
Pomeroy Living History Farm is a non-profit 501c3 organization committed to our mission of preserving and maintaining history, providing educational opportunities, and sharing farm life - past and present - with the community.
Description
Pomeroy Farm was established by EC & Adelaide Pomeroy in 1910. It's on the national register of historic places, and acts as an educational tool for thousands of local school kids each year via field trips. Our flagship program is designed to show children what life on a pre-electric farm looked like; including hands-on activities such as churning butter, hand-washing clothes, and helping out with some of the animal related chores. We find that providing this experience and connection to the past becomes more and more important as the pre-electric era grows further into the distance, and technology becomes more prevalent.
In addition to our educational programs and promoting farm life engagement, we have a passion for providing family-friendly community activities in a beautiful setting. Our annual "Farm Days" events, hosted the first weekends of June-August, allows us to share our historic grounds and farm life with our community. We offer other activities and fundraisers throughout the year (workshops, teas, private events, etc.) which help fund our operations and programs.
Current fundraising efforts are being geared towards improvements on our museum grounds, formal archiving of our museum artifacts, documents and photos, and programming expansion including in-class learning opportunities.
