One Day’s Wages exists to alleviate extreme poverty by investing in, amplifying, and coming alongside locally led organizations in underserved communities.
Globally, over 800 million people – 10% of the world’s population – experience extreme poverty, defined as living on less than $3.00 a day. Extreme poverty means lacking basic necessities for survival, including food, water, income, healthcare, and education. Leaders in these communities deeply understand the needs, but only about 5% of global development funding goes directly to local organizations.
In response to this challenge this is what we do:
Invest In: We fund grassroots organizations implementing community-led solutions to extreme poverty. We offer one-year grassroots grants for new partners, multi-year growth grants for past partners, and short-term emergency grants for partners responding to a crisis.
Amplify: We highlight our partners to expand their spheres of influence and elevate their expertise. We share about our partners through our website, social media channels, newsletters, and events.
Come Alongside: We regularly convene our partners for networking and capacity-sharing forums that center local expertise and contribute to mutual learning. We offer webinars, panel discussions, newsletters, a resource library, and personalized support.
a more just and beautiful world
in which grassroots organizations have the financial resources, confidence, and capacity to support flourishing communities.
