At a time when health coverage, affordability, and access are under real threat, your support helps NoHLA continue to fight for people across Washington. Too many Washingtonians are being priced out of care, delayed by insurance barriers, burdened by medical debt, or left trying to navigate systems that are confusing, costly, and unfair.

Right now, health coverage for 1 in 20 Washingtonians is at risk. That includes people losing federal premium assistance, immigrants losing coverage because of where they were born, and hundreds of thousands of people who will be affected by new Medicaid eligibility and reporting requirements.

Your gift helps provide the flexible support NoHLA needs to keep fighting back with policy advocacy, legal advocacy, and community partnership. This work does not stop when a bill passes. It continues as we work with community partners, agencies, insurers, providers, and other decision-makers to continue to push forward and mend our broken health care system. 

Mission

Founded in 1999, Northwest Health Law Advocates is a nonprofit consumer health advocacy organization working to achieve a health care system that enables all people to receive quality, affordable health care on an equitable and timely basis, with the rights and protections they deserve.

We believe health is a human right. We value people over profit. We work at a systems level to challenge the root causes of health inequity and help build a health care system that works better for everyone in Washington.

• $25 million in premium assistance for people buying insurance through Washington Healthplanfinder

• Stronger oversight of health business mergers and acquisitions

• Continued access to physical, speech, and occupational therapies for 1 million Washingtonians

• Hospital charity care protections that would otherwise have been restricted

These outcomes matter. And so does the work that continues on.

NoHLA keeps working with community partners  and decision makers after policies pass to make sure implementation happens, protections are enforced, and Washingtonians can access the care and rights they were promised.
