Mission

Mercy Housing's mission is to create stable, vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.

Currently, MHNW has over 6,000 residents, including children, adults and seniors across over 50 properties in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. We know that having a home is often just the start of a person’s journey to stability, which is why we provide Resident Services in addition to housing.

Description

This year, Mercy Housing Northwest is preparing to welcome families to Aviva Crossing, a new 129‑unit affordable housing community in Tacoma designed for families rebuilding after housing instability. Developed in partnership with the Tacoma Housing Authority, Aviva Crossing ensures that every home is deeply affordable through long‑term housing vouchers, providing stability at a time when many families face the loss of critical housing assistance.

But we know that housing alone is not enough.

At Aviva Crossing, Mercy Housing Northwest is pairing affordable housing with on‑site education and resident services, creating a community where children can succeed in school and families can build long‑term stability. Through our Mercy Scholars program, comprehensive Resident Services, and partnership with Tacoma Public Schools, families will have access to:

  • Academic tutoring and enrichment for children and youth
  • A dedicated Youth Initiatives and School Liaison partnering with Tacoma Public Schools
  • Support for parents navigating school systems, benefits, and financial stability
  • Trusted relationships that help families remain housed and connected

This integrated approach meets families where they are - right at home! - removing barriers that too often stand in the way of educational success and economic mobility. A gift to Aviva Crossing directly invests in children, families, and a community built for long‑term success. With your partnership, we can ensure that families not only move into stable housing, but also have the tools, relationships, and support they need to thrive.

Your support can help make this vision a reality. And here’s the GiveBIG moment: Thanks to a $5,000 matching fund from our partner Dawson Construction, every dollar donated will be matched until the match is fully met.
