Mission

The Latino Community Fund of Washington invests in the Latino community to cultivate new leaders, support effective nonprofit organizations, and improve the quality of life for all Washingtonians.

Description

Formed in 2006 by a group of Washington State residents of Hispanic/Latino heritage in order to address the growing needs of the Latino community. The Latino Community Fund's approach is to capitalize on the Latino community's best resource, it's people, in order to identify, share and advocate for successful culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate organizations, programs and practices.

LCF has developed community leadership and engagement through capacity building, leadership development and investment in community projects. We provide training and issue education to more than 1,000 community members and youth. Our main programs include:

Youth Leadership Development: The Alianza Leadership Network builds the leadership of youth, ages 16-25, through community and civic engagement projects for the most pressing issues affecting our Latino community in WA State.

Healthy Families Initative: We are providing direct support to families during this covid crisis and working to connect families to health and economic resources. Reaching more than 1,200 individuals each year, LCF is dedicated to connecting underrepresented communities to health care related resources. In addition to being part of a statewide Benefits Enrollment Center, LCF also offers community engagement, outreach, and education services on environmental issues that affect the health of families.

Economic Empowerment: Through Economic Empowerment, we leverage our business leadership skills and consulting expertise to help solve problems in the communities in which we work and live by addressing challenges small business owners face today.

Latinos in Tech: A powerful community space where Latino professionals and students meet to network, collaborate and learn about upcoming opportunities in the technology sector in Seattle, the Puget Sound area and Northwest.

Civic Engagement: LCF creates opportunities for Latino leaders to make their voices heard by hosting local community dialogues, bringing groups together through the Latino Equity Network, and by working with leaders to speake directly to legislators in Olympia and throughout Washington State.

Redefining Philanthropy: Through a Community Grants Committee, the Youth-Philanthropy Board, the El Futuro Project, and community grassroots fundraising, our community is lifting their voices in the philanthropic sector and increasing community assets to build leadership and community development.
