KNKX is an ambassador for jazz and blues, and a vital source of high-quality NPR and Northwest news. Our programming staff are storytellers who reach deeply into the community to reflect the voices of our region.

We are an independent public radio station that serves the entire region. Operating a network of 12 radio signals "from the coast to the Cascades", as well as streaming our signal via mobile apps and smart speakers, KNKX reaches hundreds of thousands listeners every week.

KNKX is funded by thousands of loyal listeners who value the station’s vital services. Our community valued it enough to save the station in 2016, creating KNKX as a fully independent entity that our community can trust, free of university, commercial, and government interests.
