Public media is no longer federally funded.

Back in July, the United States government made the decision to rescind already approved funding for public media stations, which means that KNKX is now depending on the generosity of individual listeners more than ever to secure a strong, sustainable future. KNKX received 6-7% of our annual budget from federal funding. Losing it means a yearly budget deficit of nearly $600,000. We are an independent public radio station that serves the entire region. Operating a network of 12 radio signals "from the coast to the Cascades", as well as streaming our signal via mobile apps and smart speakers, KNKX reaches hundreds of thousands listeners every week.

KNKX is funded by thousands of loyal listeners who value the station’s vital services. Our community valued it enough to save the station in 2016, creating KNKX as a fully independent entity that our community can trust, free of university, commercial, and government interests.
