Mission

The King County Library System Foundation promotes literacy, learning, and libraries by providing support beyond public funding for initiatives and resources that enable the King County Library System to better serve the needs of our community.

Description

KCLS and the KCLS Foundation work together to provide core services while making new, innovative ideas and pilot programs possible. Funding from the Foundation helps KCLS provide programs and services at all 50 locations - from tutoring and computer access, to community outreach programs, and engaging programs for seniors. Your donations also support children's programs like Raising a Reader, Summer Reading, and STEM learning through ideaX.

Since it was established in 1942, the King County Library System has grown its collection, locations, and programs to what you see today - 50 libraries from Vashon to Skykomish, a collection of 4 million items, and 10 million visitors annually.
