Jet City Improv

We are in the business of spontaneous joy. 

Jet City Improv aspires to be the soul, grace and funny bone of improvisational comedy in the Pacific Northwest. 

JCI enriches our community through Youth Outreach Programs. We take Jet City Improv across the state of Washington with free classes and shows to kids who need the laughs the most - those with life-altering illnesses or disabilities (such as cancer, Muscular Dystrophy, juvenile diabetes, burns, physical disabilities, or developmental disabilities). All are given the opportunity to learn the affirmative and healing lessons of improv's "Yes, and" while getting to be just themselves, with no labels.

JCI is excited about our work to change the face of improv and invest in the future of our performers. To ensure diversity and equity (improv has too long been dominated predominantly by cis white males) we’ve created paths to performance from our existing BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Women-led improv jams, invited artists from throughout the region with varied backgrounds to learn and perform at JCI, and are investing in developing new talent with a focus on underrepresented populations both directing and performing. Returning Spring 2024 is our production, Joy Market, where the cast and director are all persons of color.  This show focuses on AAPI storytellers and exhibits our vision to redefine “who is funny.” 

We are proud to highlight that Jet City Improv offers scholarships for classes, providing an opportunity for individuals who may face financial barriers to experience the transformative power of improv. Additionally, our Pay What You Can performance nights and improv jams are now offered several times per month, establishing access to the improv arts for all!
