Helping the community preserve open space, working lands and habitat forever.

Description

Your gift will make a BIG difference. This year our project team is hard at work on the largest protection projects ever undertaken by the Land Trust — from large scale forest projects, to habitat protection in the Quimper Wildlife Corridor, agricultural protection across the county, and restoration of habitat around our rivers and streams... It’s an exciting time for life and land in Jefferson County and your support makes it possible.

For more than 35 years, Jefferson Land Trust has helped protect more than 18,400 acres of wildlife habitat and working landscapes on the beautiful North Olympic Peninsula. Working with our community, we protect these lands forever, ensuring that our region’s essential wildlife habitat, scenic vistas, cultural heritage, working lands, recreational areas, and outdoor educational opportunities are protected for generations to come.

Guided by our 100 Year Conservation Plan, our core program areas include: 1) working farm conservation, 2) sustainable forestry, 3) wildlife habitat protection and restoration, and 4) recreation and community education.

Climate change and population growth are bringing new challenges to Jefferson County, but we’ve demonstrated that, through partnership and strategic action, we can help conserve our county’s farms, wildlife habitat, and forests, while simultaneously supporting our local food systems, habitat restoration, youth education, and community health.
