Mission

Our mission is to alleviate the effects of poverty, hunger, homelessness and addiction by providing community-based social services to those in need.

Description

Immanuel Community Services (ICS) serves approximately 15,000 individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger every year through our four programs:

  1. SLU Food Bank at ICS - Our weekly Food Bank serves over 500 community members each month, feeding over 6,000 people per year. We also offer Home Delivery to those that cannot physically make it to the food bank for medical reasons.
  2. ICS Hygiene Center - Mondays through Fridays we offer a Hygiene Center that serves about 30-40 people per day. The Hygiene Center provides a place where people can do laundry, shower, sleep, eat a warm meal and find respite + shelter.
  3. Community Meal Program - We provide approximately 100 meals on the last Sunday of each month at Community Lunch. Anyone is welcome to enjoy a warm, nutritious meal and conversation!
  4. Recovery Program Shelter - We provide a safe, supportive, clean and sober living environment for men who are working to overcome addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Up to 15 men, who are homeless as a result of their addictions, are invited to stay with us while they build a new life for themselves.

We work each day to provide Food for those are Hungry, Hygiene for those are Homeless and Recovery for those who are Addicted.
Through these programs, we strive to build relationships and be a place where people can become connected and involved. We work together, side-by-side, to maintain dignity, rekindle hope and create a community of belonging.

In 2023, we served over 30,000 meals, provided 3,778 bed nights for men in recovery, distributed nearly 300,000 pounds of food and provided 12,312 showers!

We need our community to help so that we can serve each and every person who comes to ICS seeking food, shelter, and recovery.

With your financial support, we will be able pay our utilities as costs go up and continue to pay payroll and other bills. This will allow us to be a safe place where all are welcome; all feel safe; people have their basic needs met and are treated with dignity and respect. To be a beacon of hope and inspire the people we serve to dream of a different life for themselves.

Please consider giving to our mission, to help with not only sustaining but improving, enriching, and strengthening these programs and services.
