Mission

ICHS provides culturally and linguistically appropriate health services to improve the health of Asian Pacific Islanders and the broader community.

Description

ICHS is a nonprofit community health center that provides affordable, culturally-competent health care to low-income, uninsured, and limited English-proficient Asians, Native Hawaiians, and Other Pacific Islanders (A/NHOPIs) and other medically-underserved communities in the Seattle-King County area.

We believe that healthcare is a human right, but...

Healthcare is expensive. Healthcare is neither affordable nor accessible especially for those who are uninsured or underinsured. In these circumstances, paying for medical care is not an option for many.

Healthcare is not culturally accommodating. Immigrants and refugees face language and cultural barriers when accessing healthcare. This population often falls through the cracks and experiences worse health outcomes.

At ICHS, no one is turned away for care. It doesn't matter who they are, what their background is, or whether they can afford to pay.

We provide:

  • Full-range primary care
  • Vaccine pop-up clinics
  • Sliding scale fee structure
  • School-based clinics
  • Interpretation
  • Enrollment navigation
  • Senior health and wellness
  • Telehealth visits

ICHS founded by community activists as a free storefront clinic in 1973. Our history is a story of love, caring, commitment, and compassion that residents have for their community and for each other.

In 2021, ICHS served nearly 30,000 unduplicated patients in over 70 different languages at eleven locations.
