Teaching Trunks: Powered by you. Delivered with purpose.

At the Holocaust Center for Humanity, we build courageous communities by teaching and honoring the history, stories, and lessons of the Holocaust. These lessons give people of all ages an empathetic lens to view today’s complex issues and see the role they can each play in fighting hate.

During GivingTuesday, we are raising money to support our Teaching Trunk program.

Each of our 40 trunks is filled with books, replica artifacts, and lesson plans that bring the history of the Holocaust off the page and into students’ hands. More importantly, they help young people see what happens when hate goes unchecked—and how courage, empathy, and action can shape a better world.

Trunks and artifact kits are among our most requested resources. Over the past five years, student access to this program has increased sevenfold. In the 2024–25 school year, more than 10,000 students around the region experienced the value of this program thanks to community members like you.

Today, teachers across the Pacific Northwest are waiting for their chance to bring this resource into their classrooms.

Because of generous  support from our community, we have been able to offer trunks for free to schools across Washington.

Your gift today will continue to make that possible.

  • $180 sends one trunk to a classroom ready to begin learning.

  • $500 restores a well-loved trunk so it can travel to the next classroom.

  • $2,000 sponsors one trunk for an entire school year—bringing Holocaust education to hundreds of students.

Hear From Our Community

“The best part for me as a teacher, was that the trunk gave me the tools to show the contrast between that darkness and the actions of the heroes. It really helped my students see just how courageous those people were."

— Mr. Peterson, Middle School Teacher

"It made the stories of the survivors we read in class feel much more devastating and real. Being able to hold a child's shoe while learning about a survivor who had his shoes taken made the story and my understanding much more meaningful."
