Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County

A nonprofit organization

Mission

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Description

Snohomish County population growth has outpaced housing growth by more than 3:1, leading to unsustainable inflation of home prices. This unbalanced growth trajectory has created a housing crisis that has made it even harder for families and individuals to find safe and affordable housing. In Snohomish County School Districts, 1 out of every 3 students experienced homelessness, was unhoused, and/or fell under low income.

Habitat believes everyone should have a decent and affordable place to call home. Through our Homeownership Program, qualified homebuyers partner with Habitat and the community to help build their own houses by putting in sweat equity and purchasing their homes with an affordable mortgage. Habitat does not give houses away. Homebuyers qualify by demonstrating their need for a Habitat house, their ability to pay for it, and their willingness to accomplish their sweat-equity hours and other requirements.

Through critical home repair, preservation, and weatherization, our Home Repair Service helps homeowners stay in safe and affordable homes. We support low income seniors, veterans, and families with disabilities by strengthening housing stability, preventing homelessness, reducing utility costs, and preserving affordable housing in our communities.

Will you help us build or repair a home for a Snohomish County neighbor today?

Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County is a local affiliate of the international organization that originated in Atlanta, Georgia from a faith-based tradition. Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
