Happy Bike Everywhere Month!

This Bike Everywhere Month, we are celebrating the incredible things that happen when neighbors ride together.

Here are three ways that your support of Cascade Bicycle Club this GiveBIG will propel vital and joyful work forward:

  • The Pedaling Relief Project (PRP) brings volunteers together to rescue and deliver food by bike in support of multiple food banks. Founded in 2020, PRP has transported more than 1.7 million pounds of food by bike to 30,000 families across Seattle, rescued from grocery stores before it goes to waste, and pedaled to Little Free Pantries where neighbors need help most.

  • The Major Taylor Project (MTP) breaks down barriers to bicycling for youth of color in King and Pierce County. We work with roughly 200 youth annually in middle and high schools in King and Pierce Counties to teach safe bicycling, connect students to employment opportunities (through sponsored internships), and bring to life the joys of bicycling through recreational group rides.

  • Funded in part by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, Cascade Bicycle Club’s school-based education program brings the joys of bicycling to PE classrooms and schools statewide. We work with tens of thousands of students in grades 3-12 in Edmonds, Seattle, and Highline Public School Districts, as well as Wenatchee, Pullman, Olympia, Port Townsend, throughout Pierce County, and more schools across the state every year.

Biking Is…

Freedom
For many, a bicycle is the first taste of independence. It’s a vehicle to get to school, work, the mall, or to a friend's house on our own terms. Biking builds confidence, strength, and resilience in as we navigate life and building identity and is a lifelong joy that unlocks the freedom to explore, play, thrive, and connect.

Belonging
Cascade’s volunteer opportunities, rides, and events connect people. Whether it’s 6,000 people on the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic or one student learning to shift gears on a steep hill, biking builds shared moments, joy, and community. Cascade works to create spaces where people feel seen, welcomed, and supported, no matter their riding pace or background.

Change
Bikeable communities are more equitable, sustainable, and healthy. Biking to work, school, or the grocery store is an affordable and joyful way to reduce emissions and increase physical and mental well-being. We take great pride in our work - made possible by our partners and donors - to help create community-centric, inclusive, and ambitious bicycling systems that work for everyone.

Who is Cascade Bicycle Club?

Cascade Bicycle Club is Washington’s largest biking nonprofit.

We inspire people to ride, teach kids and adults how to ride safely, and speak up for better bike laws and safer streets. Our goal is to help people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities enjoy biking and to build healthier, safer, and greener communities.

By growing cycling, Washington can reduce pollution, cut our climate emissions, improve health, close equity gaps, and foster more joyful, connected, and resilient communities.

With your support, Cascade Bicycle Club advocates for safer streets, teaches the joys of cycling (to future and current riders of all ages), and brings communities together through community rides, volunteer opportunities, and world-class events.

Mission and vision

Cascade Bicycle Club brings people together to experience the joy of bicycling through transportation, recreation, and friendship. We collaborate with members, volunteers, and community partners to inspire people to advocate for a safe, equitable, and sustainable Washington state. We build confidence, leadership, knowledge, and community by teaching bicycle skills to all ages.

We envision a safe and healthy future where bicycles bring people together, eliminate inequity, and create thriving communities.
