Mission

Bailadores de Bronce promotes the beauty and richness of Mexican traditions through music and dance in the Pacific Northwest. We create a bridge of understanding among all people by sharing our culture, preserving our traditions, and instilling pride in our youth.

Why GiveBIG in 2025?

Bailadores de Bronce builds community and preserves and promotes Mexican culture through dance. In 2023 we celebrated our 50th Anniversary featuring a new generation of young dancers. We need your help to continue our growth and meet the demand for Folklorico and spaces celebrating Mexican culture in the Pacific Northwest. Show your support for our dancers and GiveBIG today. Even a small donation would help us reach our goal.

Your donation will help fund:

  • Affordable folklorico classes for our community (anyone is invited to join us!)
  • Class and rehearsal space
  • Workshops for our dancers.
  • Costumes representing different regions of Mexico
  • Safe spaces for the celebration of Mexican culture throughout the Pacific Northwest

Description

Bailadores de Bronce was founded at the University of Washington in 1972, emerging from the Civil Rights and Chicano movements. A group of students at the University of Washington united in a common goal to demonstrate their pride in their Mexican heritage through music and dance. They questioned the lack of Mexican-American heritage programs at the University of Washington. Bailadores de Bronce (aka Bronce) was a product of the Civil Rights and Chicano movements. The group is one of the country's longest established Mexican dance troupes, in existence now for 49 years, and it is considered to be one of Seattle's cultural treasures.

Bronce creates a safe, encouraging atmosphere for people to come together, whether as dancers or enthusiastic audiences, to explore and appreciate some of the beauty and gifts of Mexican culture.

All dancers, instructors, and the Board of Directors volunteer their time, energy, and efforts to ensure that Bailadores de Bronce continues to thrive. We always remember that the dancers, with their dedication and love of their culture and each other as a family, are the glue that keeps Bailadores de Bronce together. Proudly, we now see the children of present and past dancers dancing for Bronce next to other family and community members.

Our dancers' dedication shines through in their performances, showcasing intricate footwork and refined choreography. The beauty of our culture is brought to life by the authentic costumes of the various regions of Mexico. Our artistic director is adamant that every costume and footwork is meticulously designed and executed, staying true to the essence of Mexican culture.
