About the Alliance

2025 marks the Alliance for Education’s 30th Anniversary, a celebration of partnership and progress. Since 1995, the Alliance for Education has served as an independent, local education fund partnering with Seattle Public Schools to address big challenges facing students, families and educators schools. Our work is designed to challenge systemic inequities in public schools and create a more equitable and just education system that allows all Seattle students to thrive.

$30K for 30 Years

For 30 years, we have seen firsthand what’s possible when collaboration and commitment are at the center of our approach. From supporting innovative programs like the Alliance’s Seattle Teacher Residency (STR), now in its 12th year of preparing excellent teachers for Seattle’s schools most impacted by poverty, to advancing initiatives that address gaps in basic needs like the Right Now Needs Fund, we’ve demonstrated that the most significant progress comes when we work together and align efforts across sectors.

Our work is far from finished. As is true in all large urban public school systems, inequities still disproportionately affect students experiencing poverty and students of color in Seattle. This compels us to recommit to nurturing our schools– to ensure that every student has access to the education they deserve.

As a community, we must quiet critique that comes without support, and roll up our sleeves to focus on solutions that work grounded in equity and excellence. 

And the reality is, in today’s political and economic climate, public funding alone isn’t enough. Funding our schools takes bold leadership from the community. It takes vision. And it takes all of us.
