WomenSpirit Coalition

WomenSpirit Coalition is celebrating their 23rd year in operation and remains committed to ending violence in Indigenous communities. We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that was formed to serve 29+ tribes in WA State. WomenSpirit Coalition is made up of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Survivors have always been at the center of the indigenous origin story of our team. We believe, practice, and train practitioners on Hope Theory. We envision a Nation where Native women live safely and where WomenSpirit Coalition is the leader in ending violence against Native women. We stared organizing in 2002. We are recognized by the Department of Justice/Office of Violence Against Women as the official WA State Tribal Coalition since 2006

What we do for our tribal communities:

• Provide members, allies, and tribal governments with the following:
  • Services, training and technical assistance support for building capacity building, 
  • Access to our Sayu X Wey Family Safety Center,
  • Prevention work, 
  • Increase awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault against American Indian and Alaska Native women;
  • Advocate for Policy and Systems change on the tribal, local, state and federal level, 
  • Enhance the response to violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women at the federal, state, and Tribal levels,
  • Provide technical assistance to coalition members and Tribal communities and allies to enhance access to essential services to American Indian and Alaska Native women victimized by domestic and sexual violence, including sex trafficking;
  • Assist American Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Tribes, Alaska Native Villages and  communities in developing and promoting state, local, and Tribal legislation and policies that enhance best practices for responding to violent crimes against Indian, Alaska Native women, including domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking/strangulation and MMIWP.
