Whidbey Island Nourishes

A nonprofit organization

Mission

Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN) is a volunteer-powered, nonprofit organization dedicated to nourishing youth on South Whidbey Island.

Description

For 19 years, Whidbey Island Nourishes (WIN) has been providing nourishing food to children and teens on South Whidbey Island.

At WIN, we work to ensure that no child on South Whidbey goes hungry. Through programs like our free Weekend Meal Program and snack support to South Whidbey students, we are providing nutritious, healthy food to those who need it most. Our efforts focus on reaching children during times when access to food can be challenging, such as weekends, holidays, and school breaks. By partnering with the South Whidbey School District and community organizations that serve youth, we create a reliable food safety net for families facing food insecurity.

Your generosity makes this work possible. Every dollar you give fuels more than just meals—it fuels hope, opportunity, and resilience in the lives of our neighbors. Together, we are not just addressing hunger; we are building a community where everyone has the chance to grow, learn, and succeed. By supporting WIN, you become part of a collective effort to make our community a place where no child goes hungry, and everyone has the chance to thrive. Your generosity and compassion are the foundation of WIN’s work—together, let’s build a stronger, healthier future for our community’s young people.

In 2026, WIN has launched expanded programming to continue addressing the needs in our community:

  • International Recipes: Every week, WIN sends home recipes so children can learn how to create filling meals from their free delivery bags. Once per month, WIN sends home an internationally-inspired recipe to expand children's cultural learning.
  • High School Transition Workforce Training: Every week, WIN hosts recent high school graduates through a special education transition program as part of our Kitchen Team to help prepare, cook, and package food for programs.
  • Athletics: Upon learning that some students were attending their sports games without food, WIN stepped in to fill the food gaps for athletes by launching a spring pilot program to provide food for high school athletes on game days. Let's WIN for Game Day!
