About Us
For over 16 years the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington has been empowering community members to protect and restore Southwest Washington’s waterways and natural areas.
These waterways and natural areas are incredibly important to wildlife, community recreation, and climate resilience. Protecting and preserving them has never been more important.
We Need Your Help
We are in unprecedented times, and budgets are being cut across Clark County. We receive most of our funding from municipal and private partners who are facing their own budget challenges and having to make difficult decisions about their programs.
This instability affects our ability to do our work and to plan for the future – especially undertaking large restoration projects that can be a 3-5 year commitment.
Your gift will help us
With your support, in 2026 we can continue present levels of:
• Volunteer opportunities across southwest Washington. In 2024, we held 36 volunteer events! 1,700 volunteers planted 12,996 native plants, picked up 1,148 lbs. of litter, and removed around 24,000 cigarette butts from along the Columbia River.
• Certification through the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, which provides support and incentives for people who seek to restore native habitat in their own backyards. In 2024, we conducted 214 site visits that resulted in 53 certifications around Clark County!
• Community conversations like our environmental film series and other events that provide education on issues that affect watershed health. Our 2025 film series had 461 attendees!
• Inclusivity by partnering with BIPOC-led organizations, ensuring volunteer events have Spanish speakers available, and providing Spanish transcreation of all materials. In 2024, our 36 volunteer events had translation available and included special litter cleanups with additional activities in partnership with BIPOC organizations.
In 2026 and beyond we are facing an annual $90,000 budget cut – a substantial percentage of our annual budget. We will have to drastically reduce our community impact if we can’t find the funds to fill the gap.
Every donation helps us reach our goal!
