Washington Museum Association

The Washington Museum Association (WaMA) is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to supporting and strengthening museums across Washington. Since 1980, WaMA has served as a unifying network for museums of all types and sizes, from small, rural, volunteer-run heritage organizations to large art, science, and cultural institutions. 

Museums play a vital role in every community across Washington. They preserve our shared history, foster curiosity, inspire creativity, and serve as trusted spaces for learning and connection. WaMA exists to ensure these vital community assets remain resilient, accessible, and impactful.

Through advocacy, professional development, and statewide collaboration, WaMA works to elevate the museum field and support those who steward Washington’s cultural resources. WaMA provides professional development opportunities and resources for museum professionals and volunteers, fosters networking and shared learning, and serves as a unified voice for museums in policy and funding conversations.
