Our Mission

Washington Policy Center is a non-profit, independent think tank that works to improve the lives of Washingtonians by promoting high-quality, non-partisan, evidence-based research to advance policy solutions for a better Washington state.

About

Washington Policy Center (WPC) is a non-profit, non-partisan, independent think tank in Washington state. WPC works to improve the lives of Washington state citizens by providing high-quality, free-market policy solutions. We bring a reliable and trustworthy free-market perspective to the public debate in Washington state.

With a full-time staff of 25 and an annual budget of over $5 million, the work of WPC is primarily driven by our eight research centers: Center for Agriculture, Center for Education, Center for Energy and the Environment, Center for Government Reform, Center for Health Care, Center for Small Business, the Coles Center for Transportation, and Center for Worker Rights. Our policy experts inform policy, testify on legislation in Olympia, appear in local and national media, and speak to everyday citizens across Washington state.

WPC believes that educating and empowering the next generation of leaders is crucial to keeping the free market alive in Washington, which is why we are proud to feature WPC Young Professionals (YP) program this year during Give Big Washington. Launched in 2010, the Washington Policy Center’s Young Professionals program works to engage young people in free-market ideas. Through robust events, digital marketing and social outreach, partnerships and fact-based research, WPC YPs empowers a network of young professionals and college students across Washington state to participate in the policy conversation. Our mission is to engage and empower the next generation of free-market leaders in Washington state. WPC’s Young Professionals program is led by an active advisory board made up of impressive and engaged young professionals from across the state.

Our Young Professionals program is entirely donor funded. Any contribution you can make ensures that we can continue publishing research, hosting events, and growing our Young Professionals program. With gratitude to the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, every $2 you give will be matched with an additional $1— if you’ve been considering supporting WPC’s Young Professionals program, now is the time to maximize your impact.

Washington Policy Center is committed to ensuring Washington state remains one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family; and every contribution we receive today moves us towards that goal – thank you for your support today!
