Susan G. Komen - Washington

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.  In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement.  Today, Susan G. Komen is the boldest community fueling the best science and making the biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer.  Thanks to events like the MORE THAN PINK Walk, we have invested more than $2.2 billion to fulfill our promise, working to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world through ground-breaking research, community health outreach, advocacy, and programs in more than 50 countries.  Susan G. Komen NCCA has been serving the community since 1997 and has become the local expert on breast cancer serving 29 California counties throughout the region.  No other organization has the deep understanding of barriers to care, and no other organization raises funds to bridge those gaps making access available to all women regardless of where they live or how much money they make.  We carefully study the answers to the following vital questions: who is being diagnosed and at what stage, where do they live, and what prevented them from accessing care for an earlier diagnosis?  At Komen NCCA, we know where the need is greatest and what programs have the most impact.  We are the local expert on breast cancer.  No other organization has the deep understanding of barriers to care, and no other organization raises funds to bridge those gaps making access available to all women regardless of where they live or how much money they make.  We're the only organization providing Sacramento Valley residents with care across the entire continuum: culturally competent outreach and education; diagnostic services and treatments; navigation through our complex medical system; temporary financial help for the entire length of her treatment; research and more.
