Lincoln Hill Retirement Community, located in Stanwood, WA, is a senior center dedicated to providing the growing older adult community with activities, low-cost meals, low-cost senior housing, and free or reduced cost transportation. Our Snow Goose Transit Bus is a free bus service that connects underserved rural communities in Camano Island, Stanwood and Arlington to vital services, medical appointments, shopping, work and school. This is a fixed bus route with deviation from the route with a .75 mile radius off the line. This service was developed to provide transportation to older adults, those with mobility challenges and low-income persons who live in underserved rural areas. A.I.P. is our Age In Place program, helping older adults live independently as long as possible. Our A.I.P. shuttle bus brings older adults who no longer drive to the center for lunch and activities on Mondays and Wednesdays. Transportation for this service is always free, and the program is supported by Snohomish County. We would like to expand our A.I.P. program by adding a respite service for caregivers. Caregivers would be able to take a break from their day-to-day duties, caring for a loved one or friend, which is often a 24-7 job. We would also like to offer an in house pantry for our residents. This would be a free pantry our tenants could use, for basic necessities. Older adults don't always have the ability to drive to the store and purchase items. This pantry would be available to fill in the gaps when they can't go shopping.
