Our Big Project
Since it was built in 1935, generations of Sea Scouts have called the dock at Waterway 18 on Lake Union home. Now owned by the Spirit of Propeller Foundation to support the Sea Scouts and other youth maritime training programs, the dock needs replacement to comply with the current requirements of the Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources and the Federal Environmental Protection Administration.
We hope you will partner with us by funding this dock replacement project, helping the Spirit of Propeller and the Sea Scouts protect the environment, preserve their longtime home dock, and provide opportunities for youth interested in boating and the maritime industry.
Our goal is to raise $450,00 to cover the cost of obtaining the required local, state and federal permitting, and the cost of construction and installation of the new dock. Construction could begin as early as 2023 if we meet our funding needs.
Our mission is to own and provide a safe, affordable maritime training facility for all youth in the greater Seattle area, including Scouting BSA's Sea Scout Ships, to provide trained and qualified maritime instructors and consultants and to provide an affordable operations platform for youth maritime educational organizations.
Formed in 1985, the Spirit of Propeller supports youth maritime organizations dedicated to the education, training and support of youth within our community, including Sea Scouts. We provide financial, material and training support to these organizations to assist in meeting their training requirements.
Thank you to all of our supporters who have donated so far!
