MISSION

Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland (SPF) exists to ensure the economic viability of Skagit County agriculture and its required infrastructure through farmland protection, advocacy, research, education, and public awareness.

Description

“If 100 years from now there are viable farms and family farmers on this Valley floor, forests and loggers in our hills, salmon and salmon fishermen to catch them, and waterfowl, everybody wins.”

- Dave Hedlin, Co-Founder of SPF

We have a vision for our future!

Perfectly located between the Cascade Mountains and the Puget Sound, and fed by the clean water of the Skagit River, Skagit Valley is a delicate balance of beauty, tranquility, and sustainable agriculture production.

With its unique and enviable patchwork of modest towns, public lands, wildlife refuges, and flourishing farmlands, Skagit Valley offers people from all over the region a place to relax and breathe.

Those who live here enjoy a constant view of the big, bold sky, mile after mile of colorful fields, the winding Skagit River, and snow-capped mountains.

Those who travel to the valley come to relax and unwind in the wide open spaces of this picturesque setting.

The Magic Skagit is a precious resource on the Puget Sound offering people from around the region a chance to recharge both physically and mentally.

Please consider supporting SPF with a gift today.

Your donation helps us to:

  • Permanently protect farmland from development while focusing on areas under greatest threat
  • Strengthen our advocacy to preserve the agricultural economy of the Skagit Valley--one of only two fully functioning agricultural valleys that remain in the Puget Sound region.
  • Move forward important collaborations and partnerships on issues such as growth management, water security, and salmon recovery, in order to achieve a balance of outcomes that benefit our entire community.
