Pioneer Park and Arboretum Pathway Accessible to All Project
The Pathway Accessible to All community improvement capital project will complete a 5-foot wide, 1,800-linear-foot long, accessible pathway around the perimeter of the four-acre Pioneer Memorial Park and Arboretum in Sequim Washington. The concrete Pathway highlights the beautiful gardens, arboretum, Jamestown S'Klallam Totem and Pavilion, waterfall, historic cabin, Pollinator Garden, and Remembrance Garden. This project will also upgrade the current accessible parking area to meet ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
Organization Mission
The Sequim Prairie Garden Club (SPGC) has served the Sequim community and the tourists who visit Pioneer Memorial Park (PMP) for over 77 years. The 64-member, all-volunteer organization maintains and improves Pioneer Memorial Park, and provides gardening education programs for our members and the public."
Our all-volunteer corps of enthusiastic gardeners accomplishes the stewardship portion of our mission by caring for and improving all aspects of Pioneer Memorial Park, a public garden park open to the community and tourists to enjoy year-round. Sequim Prairie Garden Club is responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving all of the park assets, facilities, structures, and landscapes, including the park's multiple gardens, arboretum, irrigation system, historic log cabin, Jamestown S'Klallam Totem and Pavilion, storage shed, and the Park Clubhouse, a space for the community to hold meetings, events, and celebrations.
We accomplish our education mission by regularly offering free gardening programs about horticulture, floral design, conservation, and landscape design for our members and the public in our Clubhouse, at the Clallam County Fair, and through permanently installed education signs in the park.
