At Seattle Opera, we believe in the power of music to move hearts, spark conversation, and build community. Our work reaches far beyond the stage into classrooms, neighborhoods, and audiences of every age and background.

This season opened with a triumph. The Pirates of Penzance, our first-ever Gilbert & Sullivan production, delighted nearly 15,000 audience members, many experiencing opera for the first time. Our Family Day performance sold out, and more than 2,000 students from 23 schools and 25 homeschool groups attended the School Matinee. The production demonstrated opera’s unique ability to bring people together in a shared, joy-filled experience.

In 2026, we have since presented Daphne in Concert, featuring remarkable artists making their Seattle Opera debuts, and Fellow Travelers, a powerful opera illuminating the hidden history of the Lavender Scare. Still to come is Carmen, closing the season in stunning fashion with Tacoma born J’Nai Bridges and Sasha Cooke leading a star-studded cast.

But here’s the truth. No matter how spectacular the performance or how impactful the education program, ticket sales consistently cover only about one-third of what it takes to bring these productions to life. The rest is made possible by our community of donors.

This GiveBIG, we are raising $10,000 to sustain this extraordinary season and support the more than 100,000 people we serve each year across our region.

Your generosity helps us inspire curiosity, deepen connections, and keep opera accessible throughout our community.

Will you join us and help make an impact that truly resonates?
