Sankofa Impact brings people together for place-based learning that confronts our history of racism, uplifts stories of resistance, and celebrates culture. Sankofa is an Adinkra symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana meaning, “go back and get it,” teaching us that we must return to our roots in order to know where we are going.

Our programming brings together people from various identities to learn about racism and resistance. The impact of our immersive experiences like our Pilgrimage to the South and Pilgrimage-in-Place programs transform participants and inspire everyday activism at home, in the workplace, and all social circles.

Later in 2025, Sankofa Impact hopes to launch a Pacific Northwest Journey, a four-day experience exploring the rich and complex racial history of the Pacific Northwest—from Bellingham to Coos Bay—through site visits and conversations with past and present-day activists. We’re also introducing SOUL Sessions (Seeking Oneness, Uplifting Liberation), a new offering in our Central District office that will provide space for mindfulness, somatic healing, and community for those engaged in anti-racism and justice work.

Everyday people. Everyday activists.
