Mission and Vision

Our Mission is to empower young people from communities of color and low-income communities in the Puget Sound area to realize their potential.

Our Vision is that every young person in the Puget Sound area has the opportunity to become engaged community members while living safe and fulfilling lives.

Description

SafeFutures Youth Center (SFYC) offers academic programs, wraparound case management services, youth outreach, and summer employment and training programs. We have the opportunity to change the direction of young people's lives. Our academic and social support help them stay engaged in school and community, and recognize opportunities for a better future.

SafeFutures Youth Center has delivered wraparound case management services involving at-risk and low-income youth of color for over 25 years. SFYC provides leadership by engaging under-served youth and their families through culturally responsive academic and social support, and other resources available in their communities. SFYC operates under the leadership of an Executive Director and a 6-member Board of Directors, which includes an elected Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Leadership is provided by an Executive Committee and an Executive Director, charged with daily oversight, program management, and fiscal viability.

Our target population primarily consists of African American, East African, Hispanic/Latino, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Thai, Lao, Mien, Filipino, Pacific Islander, Somali, Oromo, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Native American, and Mixed Race. Ages range from 8-24.
