a way of companionship, accompaniment and care

Sacred Streets bolsters our community’s effectiveness in providing psychosocial and spiritual care to unhoused members of our community who sleep rough on the street, and walks with them as they move through the care continuum from the street to stability.

Our particular expression of care and accompaniment—what we call Companionship— is a way of presence and long-term accompaniment that supports healing and recovery by moving an individual from isolation into a supportive community. The Way of Companionship model trains and empowers lay people to establish and maintain ongoing supportive relationships with those living in crisis. 

In 2025-2026 our goal is to train 1,000 people in the Way of Companionship, develop curriculum to grow a street order of chaplains to offer needed soul care throughout the city, and share stories of compassion and hope with stakeholders and policy makers.
