Description

The Seattle Tennis and Education Foundation (STEF) is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit founded in 2017 with a mission to inspire under-resourced kids to be active in body and mind so they gain the confidence and skills to achieve their dreams. STEF carries on tennis legend Arthur Ashe’s goal of building character and leadership skills in all children through tennis and educational enrichment. STEF’s program primarily serves low income elementary age kids living in Magnuson Park and focuses on building a safe and welcoming environment, where kids of all skill level can learn the sport of tennis and develop a life long love for the game. In addition to helping youth improve their tennis skills, we aim to set them up for success through educational enrichment activities and social and emotional curriculum with the overall goal of supporting kids year-round so they graduate high school and move on to college or other vocational opportunities.

Recognition

We have partnered with the USTA Foundation, the Tennis Center Sand Point, Mercy Magnuson Housing,  the City of Seattle Parks and Recreation Department, as well as private donors to bring this special program to the under-resourced youth in Seattle.
