SR3: SeaLife Response, Rehabilitation & Research

Give today for local marine animals in need!

This time of year is incredibly important for the marine animals we share the shore with here in Washington.

Patients like Crumpet, the harbor seal pup pictured above, are counting on you for the care they need to heal and return to the wild.

This young pup was likely orphaned due to human disturbance after people were reportedly seen dragging him toward the water. He was later resighted alone multiple times over several days before he was transferred into care at the Rescue Center.

Crumpet is now receiving treatment for malnutrition and pneumonia, and his second chance at life is only possible because of compassionate people like you.

Your gift of any size today will help a suffering marine animal - delivering meals, medications, and the expert care they need for a second chance at life.

Together, we will also protect endangered whales, remove ocean trash, and so much more.

Your gift will make an impact across all of this life-saving work:

  • RESPONSE: SR3’s marine wildlife ambulance and emergency first responders stand ready every day to deliver urgent care when marine animals are suffering. Each response also gathers critical data to better understand and reduce human impacts. In 2025, SR3 responded to 496 calls and traveled 6,634 miles to rescue and release marine animals in need.
  • REHABILITATION: SR3’s SeaLife Rescue Center is the only marine wildlife hospital of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. Since opening in 2021, more than 250 stranded marine animals have been admitted for a second chance at life in the wild.
  • RESEARCH: SR3’s scientific research delivers insights into the health, status, and impacts of human activities on marine animal populations and informs conservation actions critical to their survival. This work has triggered emergency protections for struggling endangered Southern Resident killer whales (SRKWs) and played a key role in securing landmark legislation that safeguards all SRKWs in Washington waters.

From endangered whales and sea turtles to injured seals like Benny, these animals are depending on all of us to show up when it matters most.

Thank you for being a part of this critical day of giving!

About

SeaLife Response, Rehabilitation and Research (SR3) was established in response to critical gaps in protections for marine animals in the Pacific Northwest. The organization serves a total of 4,000 miles of coastline in Oregon and Washington State, including one of the world’s largest and most biologically rich inland seas, the Salish Sea.

Fueled by ocean lovers like you, SR3 works to address both the urgent needs of suffering animals as well as the root causes of marine health issues.

Our mission: to promote the health and welfare of marine wildlife in the Pacific Northwest.
