SR3: SeaLife Response, Rehabilitation & Research

A nonprofit organization

Giving Tuesday is here!

This global day of generosity is incredibly important for the animals at SR3's SeaLife Rescue Center.

Recovering patients like harbor seal pup Al Dente and his friends are counting on you to supply everything they need to heal and return to the wild. And your gift before midnight on Giving Tuesday, 12/2, will be DOUBLED, up to $10,000, to rescue twice as many marine animals in need.

In short, today you can - Give once. Rescue twice!

Will you help a suffering marine animal be welcomed to the warmth and safety of our Rescue Center with your donation of $50?

Harbor seal patient Al Dente was admitted in July suffering from pneumonia, malnourishment, and severe trauma likely inflicted by a dog, requiring surgery to remove his damaged eye.

Your gift of any size today will make twice the impact for a marine animal in need. Give Once. Rescue Twice.

Together, we will also work to protect endangered whales, clean up ocean trash, and so much more.

Your gift on Giving Tuesday will be matched by another generous supporter - up to a total of $10,000! - to have twice the impact on all of this life-saving work:

  • RESPONSE: SR3’s marine wildlife ambulance and emergency first responders stand ready every day to deliver urgent care when marine animals are suffering. Important data is also collected during rescue operations, helping reveal the cause of these animals’ suffering to mitigate human impacts. In 2024, SR3 responded to 342 calls about wildlife concerns - from delivering hands-on attention and coordinating field responses to providing expert advice and referrals.
  • REHABILITATION: SR3’s SeaLife Rescue Center is the only marine wildlife specialty hospital in the Pacific Northwest. The Rescue Center provides specialized care to sick or injured marine animals who need time to heal before returning to their ocean home. Since its opening in 2021, more than 250 stranded marine animals have been admitted for a second chance at life in the wild.
  • RESEARCH: SR3’s scientific research delivers insights into the health, status, and impacts of human activities on marine animal populations and triggers conservation actions critical to their survival. For instance, emergency protections have been issued for struggling endangered Southern Resident killer whales (SRKWs) over the past four years based on SR3's health findings. And with your support of this research, we played a key role in securing a new law effective January 2025 that is helping safeguard all SRKWs in Washington waters by requiring boats to give them extra space.

From endangered whales and sea turtles to injured seals and sea lions - these animals are depending on our collective action for the expert attention they need to survive. Thank you for joining us on this critically important day of giving!

About

SeaLife Response, Rehabilitation and Research (SR3) was established in response to critical gaps in protections for marine animals in the Pacific Northwest. The organization serves a total of 3,000 miles of coastline in Oregon and Washington State, including one of the world’s largest and most biologically rich inland seas, the Salish Sea.

Fueled by ocean lovers like you, SR3 works to address both the urgent needs of suffering animals as well as the root causes of marine health issues.

Our mission: to promote the health and welfare of marine wildlife in the Pacific Northwest.
