Mission
Rainier Scholars cultivates the academic and leadership potential of underrepresented students of color through rigorous, transformative opportunities that increase college graduation rates and empower new generations of leaders.
We envision a just and inclusive society with equitable representation of people of color at all levels of leadership and influence.
Description
Founded in 2000, Rainier Scholars is a 12-year comprehensive college preparatory program that empowers today’s leaders in the greater Seattle and Tacoma communities.

What sets us apart:
-
Early start: Scholars in our program receive long-term support starting in 5th grade and continuing through college completion.
-
Mental health support: Scholars and families are supported by mental health experts throughout the program.
-
Culturally relevant curriculum: Our intentional program is designed with an equity lens to help students uphold and honor their cultural identities.
Scholar Successes in the 2022-2023 school year:
- 98% of scholars are on college prep pathways
- 94% of high school graduates have attended a four-year colleges or university
- 97% of 2023 college graduates are in full-time jobs or are enrolled in a graduate program aligned with their interest.
Our mission of educational equity is possible with your partnership and generous support. With two program locations and a new five-year Strategic Plan, we are looking to expand our impact while keeping our scholars and families at the center of everything we do.
In April, we gathered as a community at our Be EPIC Luncheon to celebrate our scholars, families and alumni as they shared their remarkable journeys and accomplishments. We invite you to view the recorded event here.
