Mission

We are a social enterprise that partners with communities to transform society by honoring the humanity of people, reducing the impact of discriminatory mass incarceration, and empowering people to live safe, healthy, productive lives through inspiration, affirmation, and by overturning barriers.

Description

Pioneer Human Services started as a single halfway house in Seattle in 1963 with a vision of providing a chance for change for individuals with experience in the criminal legal system. Today we serve over 8,000 people a year in Washington State in 50 diverse treatment, housing and employment programs. Unique for a nonprofit, Pioneer Human Services is a social enterprise that operates a diverse line of businesses to provide on-the-job training and work experience for people overcoming the challenges of criminal histories and substance use disorders.
