Mission

Philharmonia Northwest contributes to the vitality of the classical music community in the Pacific Northwest by presenting professional level concerts highlighting the diverse past and present repertoire for chamber orchestra. It is dedicated to promoting local composers and performers, and its outreach programs educate and inspire younger musicians and audiences of all ages.

Description

Philharmonia Northwest, one of Seattle’s finest chamber orchestras, is a vital part of the regional classical music scene. For more than four decades, the orchestra has presented lively performances of works ranging from the classics to world premieres and has featured many outstanding Northwest soloists. The orchestra is composed of dedicated and skilled musicians who contribute their time and talent to Philharmonia Northwest’s continuing success. Under the dynamic leadership of Music Director Emerita Julia Tai, the orchestra added an educational outreach program and a group dedicated to commissioning new works.

Philharmonia is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Music Director, Dr. Michael Wheatley, who joins the orchestra this Fall. The 2024-25 Season will feature concerts at Town Hall Seattle, Shorecrest Performing Arts Center, and Bastyr Chapel with the Kirkland Choral Society.
