Partner In Employment (PIE) works to guarantee the long-term economic stability of newly arrived refugees and immigrants in King County (KC) by providing tailored assistance in language acquisition, housing stabilization, workforce entry, and job training in higher-wage industries.
Why PIE?
During these uncertain times of dealing with COVID-19, PIE has seen a surge in need for our services. Our immigrant and refugee community is particularly hard hit by job layoffs and the resulting inability to pay rent. Your support during this Give Big event will mean that we can provide more help to those navigating the system to find help with unemployment, housing, and other needed support. Our staff are working by phone from home and trying to manage the increased call volume. A donation towards PIE's mission will help provide the resources for our staff to better serve this vulnerable community.
Last year, PIE's clients added $393,269/month worth of wages to the economy through their new jobs. Supporting the employment and security of our clients not only empowers them to become self-sufficient, but it helps our economy. PIE served 569 different families last year across our programs and we helped 323 people retain stable housing. We trained 431 individuals on job readiness and labor standard practices to empower and prepare them for entering the workforce. PIE is working tirelessly to help and we would appreciate your support!
About PIE
Partner in Employment (PIE) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to address the challenges of employment among recently arrived immigrants and refugees in South King County. Thanks to the hard work of our diverse staff, and philanthropic efforts of our donors, we are able to create livable wage employment opportunities and help guide our clients to stable and self-sufficient lives in America.
PIE's staff and board members bring a deep understanding of the diverse needs of South King County's new communities. By providing in-language, culturally-competent program designs that responsively support the goals of each client, we are able to build sustainable self-reliance in the immigrant and refugee community. We remove employment barriers and help individuals navigate the employment systems through on-going communication, crisis intervention, and case management.
Immigrants and refugees also face challenges in securing stable housing. At PIE, we work hard to lower the barriers to housing so that people who are shut out of housing have an opportunity to succeed. Our model with "wrap around" supportive services and rental assistance, helps people rebuild their lives, regain their dignity, and leave homelessness behind forever.
PIE's case managers offer linguistically and culturally appropriate services to enhance the success of our participants' outcomes. Our staff provide intensive case management to address client's barriers, coach, guide, monitor progress and connects clients to resources to address their needs.
