Restoring Homeless Families in Clark County and Southwest Washington

At Open House Ministries, we walk alongside families struggling with homelessness and help them rebuild their lives. Providing food and shelter is just the beginning. Families set goals with case managers, receive counseling and guidance from our full-time chaplain, and learn new life skills.

Open House Ministries has helped families restore relationships with each other, their community, and Christ for over 37 years. Our 36-unit family shelter, located in Vancouver, Washington, provides housing for residents while they attend classes and gain vocational skills on campus. 

Our ministry works to restore families holistically, striving for healing and stability so families like Randy's can thrive.

More than a Shelter

Our resources are dedicated to equipping families with the tools they need to address underlying issues and overcome obstacles that contribute to poverty and homelessness. Our program partners with local social organizations and educational sources, providing residents with opportunities to acquire new life skills and complete their education. Residents also receive vocational training by working on campus, building job skills, and updating their résumés with current employment experience.

OHM West: Providing a fresh start and new retail spaces for vocational training

The high cost of housing continues to create obstacles for each family graduating from our program at Open House Ministries, preventing us from reaching more homeless families in our community. We recently expanded our campus, completing OHM West, a mixed-use building with 30 sustainable apartments on three floors above ground-level shopping for our thrift store, bicycle shop, and new coffee shop. The new location has increased visibility for our stores and provided residents with broader job skills training.
