Mission

NAMI Sno-Isle is a nonprofit organization that provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

Description

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI operates at the national, state, and local level. NAMI Snohomish & Island Counties (Sno-Isle) is a NAMI affiliate in Washington state. We are an independent 501(c)3 non-profit offering free mental health peer support, education and outreach programs, and engaging in mental health advocacy.

We offer free programs including the following:

  • NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for adults with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition.
  • NAMI Basics is a six-session education program for parents, caregivers, and other family members who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.
  • NAMI Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps middle and high-school-aged youth learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if they or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition. It includes a personal testimony from a peer.
  • NAMI Family & Friends is a four-hour seminar for people who have loved ones with a mental health condition. Participants learn about crisis preparation, diagnoses, treatment, communication strategies, and self-care.
  • NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition.
  • NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a course for adults who are experiencing or have experienced the challenges of a mental health condition.
  • NAMI In Our Own Voice presentations change attitudes, assumptions, and ideas about people with mental health conditions. These presentations provide a personal perspective of mental health conditions, as leaders with lived experience talk openly about what it's like to have a mental health condition.

In addition to support and educational offerings, we provide an information line and email service. Staffed by trained volunteers, this service responds to hundreds of inquiries per year and provides timely information regarding resources and support to those in need.

All of our programs are led by trained volunteers with lived experience and are offered to the public for free.
