Immigrant Rights are Human Rights

The work is getting harder. New policies and practices by the federal government are continuing to deny safety, dignity, and justice to immigrants.

At Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP), we believe in a different world—one rooted in care, in dignity, and in solidarity.

With your support, we will continue this work—choosing care over fear, connection over isolation, and holding fast to the belief that everyone deserves to belong.

About Us

Backed by the power of a loyal and supportive community, NWIRP has evolved to become one the largest nonprofit organizations in the United States dedicated solely to providing immigration legal services for low-income immigrants. Since 1984, we've been committed to the belief that everyone, regardless of their birthplace or financial status, should have access to justice. NWIRP is unique in offering free legal aid to immigrants throughout Washington State. You can learn more about our history by CLICKING HERE.

Legal Representation When It's Most Needed

In immigration court, there's no guarantee of legal representation. Immigrants who can't afford an attorney often have to navigate the complex legal system alone, with potentially devastating consequences for their families. NWIRP's legal team works side-by-side with our clients, providing direct representation and advice to defend their rights.

In 2025, NWIRP navigated a landscape marked by significant policy shifts, increased enforcement, and federal funding instability. Despite these challenges, the organization expanded its reach, providing direct legal services to 15,211 (a 20% increase from 2024), including 5,490 direct representation cases.

Our services cover various areas, including (with clickable links for more information):

Challenging Unjust Laws with Impact Litigation

Drawing on our experience representing individual clients, NWIRP takes on targeted challenges to unfair policies and practices. We've been at the forefront of several landmark cases with national implications. In 2025, NWIRP managed nearly 40 federal court cases, including 12 class action lawsuits. Empowering Communities Through Education & Outreach

NWIRP regularly hosts educational events throughout the year to empower immigrant communities with knowledge about their rights. Additionally, we distribute reliable legal information to social service organizations, other legal service providers, and private law firms and attorneys working with immigrants across the state, amplifying our impact. In 2025, NWIRP reached 25,405 community members through 311 educational events. GiveBIG Today!

Regardless of the size of your contribution, your donation today will enable us to continue our crucial work and remain nimble and responsive in the ever-changing landscape of our immigration system. Together, we will keep striving for a future where every individual is treated with the dignity, respect, and compassion deserved. Together, we can safeguard human rights. Thank you for joining us in this critical work.
