Serving our community through the transitions of aging with dignity and respect
It's hard to grow older in the remote Methow Valley. Lack of medical services, limited in-home support and long distances from specialty care make it difficult for adults to continue aging in the home they love as they age. When everyday tasks, such as maintaining smoke detectors, shoveling sidewalks or preparing food becomes too difficult to manage alone, Methow At Home steps in to support older adults.
It's up to us to show up for our neighbors!
Methow At Home supports our community to age with dignity, respect, and a sense of belonging. We foster a vibrant, multi-generational community rooted in joy, connection, and mutual appreciation, where everyone is valued.
Our approach is about meeting people where they are, offering a variety of ways for both members to receive and volunteers to contribute—whether through large or small acts—so that everyone can age at home in the community they love for as long as possible.
To achieve this vision, we focus on four core practices:
Member services and volunteer opportunities
Social connection
Preparedness and planning
Education and empowerment
A week in the life of a Methow At Home member
Let's see what a week could offer a Methow At Home member!
SUNDAY: Starts with a fun social hike led by an experienced guide. They show up after catching a ride with someone else who is attending and enjoy a beautiful afternoon hike.
MONDAY: A volunteer arrives to do yearly maintenance checks on their smoke detectors.
TUESDAY: Attend a Digital Literacy Skills class where a tech specialist helps them understand if an email they just received is a scam or not.
WEDNESDAY: A volunteer arrives at their home to pick them up for their appointment at a medical clinic located one hour away over a mountain pass, after the appointment the volunteer is there to give them a ride back to their house.
THURSDAY: Attend a Strength and Balance Class to help prevent falls and maintain mobility.
FRIDAY: They volunteer to read a book during story time at the local preschool.
SATURDAY: Meet with a volunteer (that has medical training) at their home to discuss health concerns after their recent appointment and make sure they understand what type of support they need to follow through with their doctor's recommendations.
This is what it it's like to THRIVE through the transitions of aging.
We believe it's up to us to build the community that we all want to age in.
Will you show up for older adults in our community?
