Enriching North Seattle through services that Support, Educate and Engage the community.
Meadowbrook Community CARE (MC2) is a Northeast Seattle community nonprofit that promotes sustainability for all. Our organization provides support and services to community members in need as well as plenty of opportunities for volunteers. Raising awareness and support for the needs of those without housing is a historical part of our identity and outreach. To that end, MC2's outreach expands to other critical needs, advocating for educational resources, community engagement and healthy lives. In the big picture, we are a partner in supporting our neighbors in need. Drawing on the strengths of our volunteers and your generous support, we are committed to addressing educational, health and wellness needs for low income families in Northeast Seattle.
Programs and Progress
SHARE - We continue to support a nightly coed shelter, in which we engage community members to prepare healthy shelter meals and support residents with the many challenges of homelessness.
GiveBIG update from this past year- The shelter, which currently supports between 12-16 individuals at any given time has been able to extend hours thanks to last year's generous donations!
Lake City After-School Program - We provide one-on-one tutors for English-language learners after school at Olympic Hills Elementary in Lake City. Improving reading scores and comprehension are the metrics of our yearly success.
GiveBIG update from this past year- Enrollment is at capacity again this year and the students are making great progress on their English language reading and comprehension!
Meadowbrook Community Gardens and Orchards (MCGO) -We also offer support for the local food-security program. Growing food locally and educating the neighborhood on best-practices and outdoor education is our common goal. Yearly outside work parties hosted by MC2 bring schools, civic and corporate volunteers to help meet the seasonal year to year goal of supporting hunger needs and best practices of a strong food security system.
GiveBIG update from this past past year- MCGO continues to produce tons of organic fresh produce and we were able to make some great capital improvements to the planting areas!
Lake City Holiday Project- Engaging local human service providers, we procure holiday gifts and gift cards for families in need. Identified clients are supported with children's gifts that strengthen family budgets trying to make it into the new year.
GiveBIG update from this past year- We provided gifts for over 600 kids in need and are looking to expand our reach next year!
We would LOVE to top our successes of this past year that were made possible with your generous donations, and expand each of our programs to be enable us to provide outreach and support for even more of our community members in need!
