WHO WE ARE

Lutheran Community Services Northwest partners with individuals, families and communities for health, justice and hope.

OUR WORK WITH REFUGEES

For over 50 years, LCSNW has been providing life-changing services to refugees, immigrants and others seeking safety in Washington.

Whether a newly arrived refugee or an immigrant seeking legal services, we know newcomers need connection and support as they rebuild their lives in Washington. Lutheran Community Services Northwest provides culturally specific, wraparound services to those on the journey to a new home.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Every dollar counts for refugees rebuilding their lives.

  • $25 provides a warm meal for a newly arrived refugee family

  • $50 covers a restart kit for a refugee

  • $100 pays for two legal consultations for a refugee or immigrant

  • $300 provides a mattress, bedframe, pillows, and bedding for a refugee family

WHY IT MATTERS

Your gift will help refugees like Khalid and Atifa. This young couple fled Afghanistan in fall 2021. Having worked with international human rights NGOs, they knew that they were targets for the Taliban. After one month in Qatar and three more at an army base in New Mexico, LCSNW resettled Khalid and Atifa in Washington in January 2022.

They described their experience arriving in the Northwest this way:

“Finally that wait was over and we headed to Vancouver. When we first arrived, we saw smiling faces; a group of LCS team with volunteers. They had banners saying ‘welcome’. That was great, that was just amazing. We had felt that we wouldn’t have any more family and community and we would be alone, but no… It was completely a different story.”
