Mission

The Lake Washington Schools Foundation (LWSF) raises funds and amplifies community resources to provide students in Lake Washington School District (LWSD) what they need to thrive, both now and in the future.

The Lake Washington Schools Foundation has been serving the Lake Washington School District for 20 years, providing resources and support to help students achieve their full potential. At LWSF, our mission is built on four core focus areas: Remove Barriers, Support Wellness, Build Connections, and Enhance Learning. These priorities guide every program and initiative we fund, ensuring a meaningful and lasting impact on our students' lives.

Since its inception, LWSF has raised and directed millions of dollars to district-wide programs that address unmet needs of students in our community. One of our long-standing programs is PANTRY PACKS, which provides weekend nutrition to students facing food insecurity. During the 2023–2024 school year, our team purchased, assembled, and distributed over 32,000 weekend food packs to over 1,000 students.

Another example is our Inclusive Libraries funding initiative, a five-year, $180,000 commitment to expand library collections in a way that best suits the unique character of each local school community. So far, 5,500 books have been purchased for 30 schools.

Other examples include FIND YOUR FIT, an educational program that helps demystify the college application process for students and their families; LINKS LUNCH BUDDIES, a mentoring program that matches caring adults with students who could benefit from social-emotional support; and KIDS COMING TOGETHER, a teen-led initiative that helps younger students form lasting connections with peers through social and community-service events.
