Support the Safety Net: Donate to King County Search and Rescue

When the unthinkable happens and a loved one goes missing in the wilderness or urban corridors of King County and surrounding areas, 600 dedicated volunteers are ready to answer the call. King County Search and Rescue Association (KCSARA) ensures that these units have the advocacy, resources, and community support necessary to bring loved ones home safely.

As a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit, you are never charged for these services. Our mission is fueled entirely by the generosity of people like you.

Your Impact

Your donation to our WA Gives campaign directly strengthens our three core outreach pillars:

  • Public Education: Funding preventative programs that teach hikers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts how to stay safe, incorporate the 10 essentials into every plan, and how to get help when they need it.

  • Post-Mission Resources: Providing critical support and resources for subjects, their families, and the volunteers following a rescue or recovery.

  • Volunteer Advocacy: Ensuring the 600+ responders have the institutional support they need to focus on what they do best: saving lives. These units - all integral parts of the search and rescue system - are: King County Explorer Search and Rescue, King County 4x4 SAR, King County Search Dogs, Incident Support Team, Ski Patrol Rescue Team, Seattle Mountain Rescue, and Regional Special Vehicles Unit.

Where Your Dollars Go

Every dollar donated through WA Gives stays right here in King County. Because we are 100% volunteer-led, your gift has a massive footprint:

  • $25: Educates the Next Generation – Provides 10 essential materials for 5 outreach bags located within small businesses and key locations to promote safe outdoor recreation.

  • $100: Fuels the Mission – Fills a tank of gas for a volunteer to respond to a mission or attend critical training.

  • $250: Equips the Team – Helps provide post-mission resources and advocacy tools to support the mental and physical well-being of our responders.

  • $500+: Powers the Association – Secures the specialized equipment and resources our units need to find the lost and bring loved ones home. Includes live streaming for the drone program, mapping technology, and training software.

Our Legacy of Service

Since 1965, KCSARA has advocated for the highly skilled units deployed by the King County Sheriff’s Office. Every member is a registered Emergency Worker with the WA State Department of Emergency Management, standing ready 24/7/365.

501(c)3 nonprofit. Donation and Grant Funded. Volunteer-powered.

By donating today, you aren't just funding a mission—you are supporting a neighbor, a friend, and a community of heroes.

KCSARA. For your loved ones. For the volunteers.
