Mission:

The King County Search and Rescue Association (KCSARA) advocates for member units and their 600 skilled volunteers who find the lost and bring loved ones home by securing resources, raising public awareness, and building community support for this life-saving work. KCSARA became operational on February 1, 1965 as a 501c non-profit, volunteer group and its member units currently include: Seattle Mountain Rescue, Explorer Search and Rescue, King County 4x4 Search and Rescue, Regional Specialized Vehicles Unit, King County Search Dogs, Ski Patrol Rescue Team, and Incident Support Team.

Member units are deployed by the King County Sheriff’s Office and every volunteer is a registered Emergency Workers with the Washington State Department of Emergency Management.

We never charge for our services.

100% Non-profit. 100% Donation and Grant Funded. 100% Volunteer.

KCSARA. For your loved ones. For the volunteers.

The Reality Behind Every Rescue:

Last year, our member units responded to more than 150 missions across King County. These included technical rope rescues, multi-day searches, evidence recovery that brought closure to families, and urban searches for vulnerable persons who had wandered away from safety.

Who We Are: KCSARA doesn't do the rescues—we support the heroes who do.

We advocate. We equip. We sustain. So they can focus on bringing the loved one home.

This Giving Tuesday, King County Search and Rescue Association is asking for your support—and thanks to a generous donor, every gift of $200 or more will be DOUBLED, up to $10,000

The need: Your funding will support the medical program (AEDs, instructor training, equipment), the CARE team program (resilience support and training for the volunteers), communication infrastructure (repairs to repeaters and radios the volunteers depend on), specialized mission equipment (evidence search trailer equipment and a new tent trailer for shelter), and the unglamorous but essential backbone of administrative support (insurance, outreach material, PIO training, coordination systems, and database management that lets seven units and 600 volunteers operate seamlessly).

Suggested donation: $200 for a full dollar for dollar match

But please—if $200 isn't in your budget, give what you can. You are powering the mission to bring loved ones home!
