Mission

KYFS promotes healthy development of children, youth and families in South King County by providing professional counseling, education, and support services.

Description

KYFS provides early childhood education, mental health and substance use disorder services, LGTBQ+ youth peer support, after school youth development, and family support services. Our goal is to help youth and families reach their goals for a better future.

After School:
Provides caring adult role models and a safe place for youth to engage in academic, enrichment, physical, and social skill activities. Hopefully the impact of these activities will make a true difference in the lives of children, and families within KCHA housing communities in Kent.

Behavioral Health:
The Youth, Family & Co-Occurring Counseling program at KYFS provides counseling services for infants, toddlers, youth up to age 25 and families throughout Kent and surrounding communities. Our program is dedicated to those seeking help by creating services that are compassionate, effective, efficient and culturally informed.

The Substance Use Disorder Program provides assessments, early intervention groups, treatment groups, referral services, family support, parent coaching and aftercare to meet the needs of youth and families living in and around Kent. We serve ages 11-20 years old and their families.

Early Learning:
The Head Start program and the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) provide free preschool education and support services to children, three to five years old, and resource referrals and training opportunities for families who meet the income eligibility criteria and who live within the Kent School District Boundaries.

OKAY! LGBTQ+ Support Group:
OKAY! is an open support group for youth ages 13-19 who identify as LGBTQ+.
Allies of LGBTQ+ youth are welcome too!
